Tips on How to Actually Accomplish Your New Year Resolutions

It’s currently 8p.m. in Los Angeles, but I didn’t want the day to end without wishing you all a happy December. It’s already the end of the year, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the New Year has to offer. Naturally, I’m reflecting back on 2023 and it was a really good year for me. Many of the things I had on my “New Years resolutions list” for 2023 came to pass, and other things on the list are still ongoing. I’m super happy with all of the progress I made this year personally, the trips I took, and of course for launching this blog!

I wanted to talk about New Years resolutions for a moment. I know it’s very common every year for people to make a list and not follow through. But I want to encourage you to keep the promises that you make to yourself. If you can show up for your friends, family, children, co-workers etc. every day, then you need to do the same thing for yourself.

Perhaps that starts with smaller goals. Instead of saying you want to lose 30 pounds in 2024; you can start with going to the gym twice a week and making that your goal. When you set small and achievable goals, you are more likely to accomplish them. And once you start accomplishing things that you said you would, you literally alter your brain chemistry into trusting yourself more and believing that you can accomplish anything. You create that dedication and focus through your actions, and that dedication is what you actually need to lose the 30 pounds you intended to lose in the first place.

Look at your list everyday. Don’t just write it down in a notebook and never look at it again. Write it in your phone, write it on your bathroom mirror, hang the list on your wall. You need to see the list everyday and work towards it for you to accomplish your goals. Looking at it everyday also plugs it into your sub conscience mind. So even when you’re not actively working on your goals, your sub conscience mind is working in the background to make your dreams a reality.

Another tip I wanted to share is to keep your list short. I recommend writing down 3-5 things that you really want to work on for the new year. Again, attainable goals. Doing small things everyday to invest in your future self is the way to go! Now, I can’t leave this blogpost without sharing some of the things that I personally want to work on for 2024. This will also help to hold myself accountable!

1. Consume less sugar & processed foods.
In 2023, I made it a priority to exercise and to get down to a certain weight. Now that I’m here, I want to take it up a notch by cutting out a lot of the processed junk I eat.

2. Visit Bucket list location.
I’m very fortunate that I get to travel. And in 2024 year I really want to cross off a location that I have on my bucket list.

3. Continue learning Spanish.
This was on my list for 2023 and I made a lot of progress this year! Learning a language is really good for your brain and I love having that connection with people whenever I visit a Spanish speaking country.

What are some of your goals for the new year? Share it down below and lets hold each other accountable! As always, thank you for reading xoxo
